About the Author
Mark A. Leno, Jr.
Mark Leno is a native of New Hampshire where he has lived all his life, except for a four-year tour in the U.S. Air Force. A retired Dover, New Hampshire Police Offer who served for twenty-six years, he now works as a Resident Service Coordinator at the Dover NH Housing Authority. A fan of New Hampshire and local history, Mark has authored and had self-published histories of the Dover Police Department, Dover Housing Authority, and with Dover historian and photographer Thom Hindle, published Factory On Fire Cocheco Mill Blaze of 1907 in 2017. As a proud member of the NH Air National Guard, he was also a Contributing Editor to Granite Wings: A History of the New Hampshire Air National Guard 1947-1998.
For years Mark has also hiked and visited the area around Mount Washington and after staying at the grand hotel for the first time several years ago, he began to research the rich and fascinating history of the Mount Washington Hotel and the Crawford Notch area, leading to this book. Mark served as a Trustee for Dover's Woodman Museum. He is married to Monica and they have ten awesome children, three sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law, and seven grandchildren.
